nTelos' initial Portable Broadband offering is available to a limited service area. Please check the Available Service Area link (Check Availability) above to determine if service is available for you. The availability and speed of Portable Broadband is dependant upon distance from the broadcast towers, terrain issues, and radio signal quality. Neither service availability nor data speed is guaranteed by nTelos.
nTelos is currently expanding to many more locations. If you are unable to receive Portable Broadband service, we encourage you to provide your name, street address, and phone number to a nTelos Sales representative. We maintain a waiting list and use the list to gauge demand for service expansion.
System Requirements:
- All Users - Ethernet or USB capable computer or network router
- All PC or Mac Users: Pentium 2 or faster processor, 64K RAM, 40 MB hard Drive Space, Internet Explorer 5 or better, Ethernet card, or USB connectors (Windows PC Only)
- Windows Users: Windows 2000 or XP operating system strongly recommended
- MAC Users System 8.5 and up with TCP/IP control panel, Ethernet Card
Rules and Regulations:
- 1.5 Mbps download/ 550 Kbps upload is a best-effort speed. Our Broadband Speed Test is intended to provide accurate readings for nTelos Broadband subscribers. Firewall software may produce unexpected speed test results. Click here to test your Broadband speed.
- Customers located further away from the broadcast towers, or in non-line-of-sight situations may experience slower connection speeds
- DHCP on all accounts unless upgrades ordered
- Always on connection does not imply 24/7 connectivity
- Server hosting is prohibited, except as a path diversity back-up
- Peer-to-Peer node hosting is prohibited
- 800-number access fees of $0.15 per minute of usage apply
- On-site technical support is not included as part of free technical support
- Customers not in compliance with nTelos Internet Services Terms & Conditions are subject to immediate termination
- Modem is property of nTelos. A $375 charge will be applied if modem is not returned and in working condition
